Eli the Champion

Eli Manning is still a champion even though he preformed horribly in the Giants playoff loss to the Eagles last January. As the off-season plugs along, questions about whether Plaxico Burress will be back and who will be the Giants number one receiver next season are swirling. The free agent period has just started, with the draft looming as well.

Don't blame Eli for the Giants playoff loss against the Eagles. Plaxico Burress was not on the field and hurt the team by not being on the field that day. Everyone agrees that he is the biggest threat on the offense along with Brandon Jacobs, who will be back next year by the way. Eli has won a super bowl already so games like the game he had against the Eagles will be forgotten with a few more rings.

He's due for a big paycheck this off-season, making him the highest paid quarterback in the league. That's going to be interesting and I can't help wonder how the rest of the quarterbacks in the league will feel knowing that Eli is the highest paid out of all of them. That is of course, until someone signs a bigger contract, and someone always does.

The Giants have a lot of thinking to do this off-season as well as in training camp next year, and with the economy on a downward spiral, fans can't help but wonder how much they are going to spend this off-season to improve the team. They do have a lot of cap room by the way, so they definitely will be able to make moves, like grabbing that number one wide receiver everyone wants. Braylon Edwards and Anquan Boldin are names that have been thrown around a lot.

Eli has a lot to look forward this year, and can you believe that he is already 28 years old. Young Eli is growing up right before Giant's fans eyes. If Plaxico can come back and the Giants can grab another receiver, they will be in pretty good shape. Steve Smith is also looking very promising as well and David Tyree will be back. Amani Toomer is definitely gone however, a sad time for Giant's fans everywhere as Toomer was definitely an all time Giant great.

In conclusion, Eli Manning is a champion due for a big pay day, and he is developed into what Giant's fans had hoped for when they drafted him first overall in 2004 and traded away all those picks to San Diego.
