Prostitution is a moral danger in the United States of America. Women are selling their bodies in exchange for money. Prostitutes are degraded and treated like garbage. When women become prostitutes, they are no longer treated humanely. Those who argue that prostitution should be legalized should rethink this theory. The sex, drugs, infidelity, violence, and child endangerment involved in prostitution make it one of the greatest moral dangers in the entire world. These women aren't in charge of their sexuality. They are pimped out by money hungry insecure men. Pimps abuse their prostitutes mentally and physically. Shredding apart someone's self esteem is disgusting and immoral. These women also face great danger in the streets. They don't know what their "clients" are going to do. They make them feel like objects of sex. These women are the victims. Unfortunately, they are usually the only ones who arrested.
Children are also victims of prostitution. Runaway girls are snatched up by pimps and turned into oversexed drug addicted victims of society. Prostitutes need help! Society is quick to write them off! Images on television make prostitution seem glamorous, or a way to get ahead. In all actuality, prostitution is a dead in! Few women end up the way Julia Robert's character did in Pretty Woman. Prostitutes often feel trapped, like there is no way out. A prostitute's lifestyle doesn't exactly give an individual hope for the future.
Infidelity is also a major issue associated with prostitution. Men will pick up a lady of the night, lay down with her, and then go home to the wife and kids. This has major religious implications. Women aren't treated with respect in this country. Infidelity and prostitution are both prime examples of this! Is sex no longer sacred? Do men no longer feel obligated to be faithful to their significant others?
America has enough problems; prostitution should not be legalized! It makes no sense at all! It does not benefit society as a whole. There is more to lose than there is to gain. Prostitution shouldn't even be legal in Nevada. The lime lights of Los Vegas only add to the misconceptions of prostitution!
Politicians and other public figures don't make the situation any better. The money, fancy hotel rooms and "escort services" send the wrong message. These are people that Americans put into office and when they behave in this manner, it is disrespectful. Politicians should respect the law and set a good example. It is unfortunate that the media gives massive coverage to stories like that of Elliot Spitzer, yet the women who die every year from tricks gone bad are virtually ignored.
