Eliot Spitzer-Fallen Hero

Another sex scandal has rocked this nation. Eliot Spitzer was a promising Democratic candidate. There had even been speculation of him running for the Vice Presidency of the United States, but it looks as if it is now a thing of the past. His whole political career has been smeared and a sex scandal has harmed his reputation.

On March 10, 2008, The New York Times broke the story reporting that Spitzer met with and paid a high class call girl in February. He met with her for over two hours at a hotel in Washington, DC.The governor was known as client # 9. His liaison was known as Kristen. Her fee was reported to be $1,000 an hour. It has been stated that Spitzer paid her $4,300 in cash, which also included future services through this prostitution establishment. It has also been reported that this is not Spitzer first time using their service. He has had as many as eight dealings with other women from this particular company. This information was obtained through wire tapping his cell phone.

Many politicians were very upset over what has transpired with this issue so far. The Democrats have already shyed away from Spitzer. Many are saying his career is over and he should step down, or even worst, be impeached. Others are saying if he is not forced to resign he should stick it out.

There has been many political figures who have been down this road and many more will unfortunately follow.

Former President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky sex scandal rocked the White House. Who could ever forget those famous words? I never had sex with that woman." Not only did his political career survived, so did his marriage. Another political figure Jim McGreevey, the former Governor of New Jersey resigned after he admitted to having a homosexual relationship with one of his aids. Former Governor McGreevey resigned, came out of the closet and is in the process of a divorce. Even our very own Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain has been placed under the radar. After it had been alleged that he had an affair with a lobbyist for many months. It has also been reported that his wife knew of the affair. However McCain and his counterpart denied it. Kwane Kilpatrick, the famous mayor of Detroit, has come under fire after allegedly lying on the witness stand. He stated that he and his chief of staff never had an affair. Text messages has now surfaced showing otherwise.

Spitzer resigned on March 12, 2008.
