Elizabeth Hurley and Husband Disowned by Family

Elizabeth Hurley and her new husband have started life amid family turmoil. Vinod Nayer, father of Hurley's husband Arun Nayer, has declared he wants nothing to do with his son and daughter-in-law.

The elder Nayer told the Sunday Mirror that he was ejected from his son's wedding to the British superstar. "Liz an and Arun have treated us very shabbily. My heart is heavy with pain."

Vinod Nayer claims he was ousted from last month's India nuptials on Hurley's orders. The media friendly couple sold the photographic rights to their dual nuptials in Indian and England to Hello! and People.

"Maybe they didn't really want my side of the family there. They didn't even have the manners to invite my 87-year-old mother. I once thought Liz was a lovely, un-spoilt woman, but now I see that she is a very hard person. It was important for her to get celebrity faces there. That's what the Hello! deal was about. She was fulfilling her contractual obligation. I knew she was very ambitious, but I never realized just how desperate she is for fame and attention."

Vinod was originally insulted when Hurley didn't wear the diamond and ruby necklace he and his second wife gave the model as a wedding gift. For her British nuptials the bride wore a necklace given to her by the groom's mother.

"I was deeply upset. She opted to wear a necklace that Arun's mother had loaned to Valentina for her wedding to him. I thought this was in very poor taste, and that she should have something new."

Vinod Nayer added, "I consider it an insult that she wasn't wearing the £35,000($68,000) diamond and ruby necklace I offered as a wedding gift. But the most offensive and hurtful thing was to be denied, in the presence of all those people, the opportunity to accept her formally into the family, as is the Indian custom. This is not the behavior of a woman with integrity and honor."

Vinod has not spoken to his son since the wedding and has sent him a letter detailing the pain he believes his son has inflicted.

As for Hurley she declares she confused by the entire incident. Sources close to the model say she is, "a little bewildered by all of this and was totally unaware about the extent of their grievances. Liz feels she made every effort to be a part of their extended family and fit in."

Nice article... But the people involved here (Bride & Grrom) are two not so nice people. I believe that a wedding is a solemn and joyous event and families and relatives from both parties should have a participation in this great event. I feel sorry for Nayers family, people who brought him up and educate him with love and respect has been outcasr just for the sake of publicity????????? Whatever goes around -comes around.

It's a shame that an event that is supposed to be happy is tainted by what I think is stupid bickering and stubborness on both parts. I think they all need to grow up. Great article!
