Elizabeth Johnson Has a Story to Tell; Why She Doesn't Want Logan to Have Baby Gabriel

Elizabeth Johnson has a story to tell- why she doesn't want Logan to have her son, baby Gabriel Johnson. She has tried at times to say why but because of her text messages saying she killed him, no one listens.

Baby Gabriel has been missing for nearly three months- since December 27, 2009. He was age eight months; he is now age ten months. Why won't Johnson truthfully tell Law Enforcement what she did with him? Will anyone listen to the woman who damaged her own credibility after having told two stories: 1. she killed Baby Gabriel, put his blue body in a diaper bag, and threw the bag away. 2. she gave away Baby Gabriel to a couple in a park (in San Antonio, Texas). The woman who had once hoped to adopt Baby Gabriel and who has been Johnson's confidante- Tammi Peters Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona- has said that during a January visit to Johnson in jail, she asked Johnson 'questions about what these people looked like'. Smith told news media that Johnson gladly answered, saying the two strangers are white, in their mid-thirties, and live in San Antonio. The woman has long blonde hair, is between 5'1"-5'3" tall, and weighs between 110-125lbs. The man has short dark hair and is tall- a bigger guy. McQueary's PI has described the woman as being 5'6" in this KPHO article.

Here is a third story- Johnson sold Baby Gabriel through an underground adoption agency. Adoption experts have said that a mother who gives up a child to an underground adoption often receives jewelry or other valuable objects instead of money. McQueary indicated that Johnson was found with a ruby-and-diamond gold ring in her pocket said to be worth $20,000 upon her arrest in Miami Beach on December 30. "Sometimes when they give the baby away for adoption, they hand over a piece of jewelry to the mother or someone who is handing over the baby as a payment instead of money," McQueary told KPHO. At this time, no one knows where the alleged ring is.

Tammi Smith told KSAT News regarding Johnson, "She said she gave the baby away to a couple inside the motel room. She said she put the baby in the car seat and signed a paper giving custody of the child to the couple. She said the couple knew it was a phony state adoption. She said she stayed inside the room while the couple took the baby out to the car and said she didn't know what the car looked like."

Johnson continues to refuse to cooperate with Law Enforcement- say Tempe police. AZ Central has reported that she has tried to fire her attorney Vanessa Smith on the ensuing grounds- that Smith was 'inadequately representing' her; that Smith may have discussed her case with others; that Smith would not file a motion to revise the conditions of her release.

When Johnson appeared in the Maricopa County Superior Court before Judge Timothy J. Ryan on Wednesday March 17, the judge denied her motion to fire Vanessa Smith. He told Johnson that Smith was behaving properly as her attorney. He explained why Smith had not made the motion to change release conditions. And he scolded Johnson. "Right now the reality is they have a case involving Baby Gabriel and the police want to know where Baby Gabriel is located. So, when your attorneys come to you with requests for information from the police... the reason they're doing that isn't to pressure you, it's their ethical responsibility to talk to you about those things." Why isn't Elizabeth Johnson talking? 1. She doesn't know any more than she has already said is one possibility. 2. She is covering up for some person(s). 3. She wants to keep Baby Gabriel from his alleged father, Logan McQueary. 4. She is afraid of something or someone. 5. She meant what she said when she stated that she wants a better life for Baby Gabriel than the life that either she or McQueary can give him, as she told KPHO.

But consider what McQueary's Private Investigator Ken Gamble told WOAI News- "In the first few days, there was a lot of evidence that she was actually trying to set herself up down here. She was contacting women's refuges and shelters and crisis centers. And then something changed around about December 23, December 24. She was backed into a corner and she thought there was there was nothing else she could do but put the baby into hiding and someone gave her that opportunity." This aligns with what Jack and Tammi Smith have been saying when at first they had convinced Johnson to return home with Gabriel and then suddenly she refused- as told to CNN's Nancy Grace.

When Johnson was arrested, the police document showed that 'emotionally disturbed' was checked off. She has not received counseling. Why had she run away with Gabriel in the first place? She had very much wanted the Smiths to adopt Baby Gabriel. McQueary wouldn't allow it.

To Johnson, her fears and the reasons for her actions are very real. She did considerable damage to herself and her credibility with her gruesome text messages. But almost everyone believes the baby is alive and there is no record or witness saying she ever physically harmed the baby. So, if she were to say where he is right now, would anyone afterwards listen to her story as to why she doesn't want Baby Gabriel and as to why she does not want McQueary to have him (watch KPHO video). In my opinion, Elizabeth Johnson needs to tell her story- and she would likely prefer to tell it before she even considers telling the world where Baby Gabriel is. The truth will find Baby Gabriel and put him in the right place. And Johnson needs a safe forum in which to speak her truth.
