Elizabeth Olten Case: Alyssa Bustamante, Alleged Killer, Told Friends of Desire to Kill

Alyssa Bustamante Told Friends She Wanted to Feel What it was like to Kill

The Elizabeth Olten case has been pressing on for a little over a month now. 9 year old Elizabeth Olten was found dead in a heavily wooded area days after disappearing on her way home from a friend's house. Her alleged killer is 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante. What's so shocking about the case is that Alyssa's motive to commit the murder was simply to feel what it felt like to take another life.

Missouri officials are taking the Elizabeth Olten case very seriously and have charged Alyssa Bustamante as an adult in her case. She is only 15, making her one of the youngest individuals charged as an adult for the crime. Authorities don't really know what to do with Alyssa, and cite the fact that the juvenile detention system is not set up in Missouri enough to house someone who has committed such a heinous act.

Jennifer Meyer, a close friend of Alyssa Bustamante recently spoke out about the Elizabeth Olten case. She said that at a party, Alyssa - the alleged killer of Elizabeth Olten - pulled her aside and said she wondered what it would feel like to kill someone. Jennifer didn't think anything of it. She thought her friend was joking, and didn't think that Alyssa Bustamante was capable of actually going through with a murder.

Jennifer Meyer also told reporters that the "note" that led police to Alyssa could have been written by the alleged killer of Elizabeth Olten herself. While she doesn't know for sure who actually wrote the note given to the police, Meyer heard rumors that Alyssa Bustamante wrote a note during class that was taken away by a teacher. The rumor is that the note written by Alyssa is the "anonymous note" that lead the police to Elizabeth Olten's body.

What strikes me about the Elizabeth Olten case is that the alleged killer, Alyssa Bustamante, actually told people that she wanted to feel how it was to kill someone. Human instinct is to believe that our friends and loved ones aren't capable of heinous acts. It's always "someone else", someone a little darker - someone mysterious or "crazy" that kills people. Elizabeth Olten could have still been alive today had someone spoke out about what Alyssa Bustamante was speaking about.

If someone ever tells you that they want to feel what it's like to kill someone, report them. You could save lives. The Elizabeth Olten case is proof that while some people joke about these type of things, other people are dead serious.

I went to school with Alyssa and even though she dressed weird and acted a little stranger than the other kids in our class she always seemed to be laughing or smiling. I could see that she cut herself, it was all over her arms, but i never thought she could kill someone...

This is the sort of thing that anyone I knew when I was 15 could have said - "I wonder what it would be like to kill someone." A stupid thing, but natural. I had friends with which I shared Columbine like fantasies and mock-plans. We never did it, although I did break laws, and now I am a law-abiding successfullish married man in my 40s. But if those statements and fantasies could have been given some incentive or boos, like the reality of a gun, or a need to impress. Would I have shut off my life so casually to play out a seductive adolescent part. We may all be closer to monster status than we realize. But at least I don't guid a drone evey moninng that nanihilates a familiy a half a world wasy. If so, I would be a hero. /FANCY THAT!
