Elizabeth Taylor Latest Brunette Beauty to Pass Away This Year

Elizabeth Taylor died of congestive heart failure Wednesday at the age of 79, but the violet-eyed vixen will live on as one of the greatest beauties the silver screen has ever seen through movies like "Cleopatra" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." Unfortunately, the brunette beauty isn't the only dark-haired silver screen siren who was lost this year.

Jane Russell died less than a month ago on Feb. 28 at the age of 89. She was another actress known for her curves, which she displayed in movies like "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "Outlaw," where her copious cleavage almost got the movie outlawed. Like Taylor, she was married multiple times (although her three are nothing next to Taylor's eight).

Actress Maria Schneider died on Feb. 3 after losing her battle with cancer. Like Russell, she also starred in a movie scene that was rather shocking for its time. Schneider would later describe her experience filming a sex scene with legendary actor Marlon Brando in Bernardo Bertolucci's 1972 movie "Last Tango in Paris" as "humiliating," stating that she felt as if she'd been raped and that the experience left her in tears. Schneider struggled with drugs and alcohol for years and even tried to commit suicide, and she never really had great success in movies beyond the role that made her so unhappy. However, she was eventually able to joke about the upsetting scene from "Last Tango," stating once that she quit cooking with butter and started using olive oil instead.

Tura Satana is another actress known for a single movie role, playing the tough leader of a group of gals with dangerous curves in Russ Meyer's cult classic "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" The Japanese-born beauty also worked as an exotic dancer and nude model, but most remember her as being clothed and sporting lots of cleavage in the campy movie. Like Russell, whom she shared a similar body shape with, she was married three times before dying of heart failure at the age of 72 on Feb. 4.

While these brunette beauties all had differing levels of success in Hollywood, they will definitely always be remembered as some of the sexiest sirens of the silver screen.
