Marriages, Awards, and Films

Elizabeth Taylor died Wednesday at the age of 79. The actress is known for her multiple weddings and incredible film history. Her career spanned several decades and she starred alongside a Hollywood who's who list of actors. She lived life the way she wanted to. She probably died the way she wanted to: with her children at her side.

Who were her top three co-stars? The criteria used to select the top three co-stars were volume of movies together, awards, and personal relationships. Two of the co-stars selected were married to Taylor. One was married to her twice. The marriages certainly show the personal relationships. Richard Burton and Montgomery Clift are the easy choices. Eddie Fisher, who married her once and starred in a movie with her, is third.

Richard Burton

Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor married twice. They got acquainted on and off the set in the movies "Cleopatra," "The V.I.P's," "The Sandpiper," and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" for which Taylor won a Best Actress Oscar. They also appeared together in a few more films as well. Costarring in so many films, and the two marriages, moves Richard to the top of the list.

Montgomery Clift

Taylor starred with Montgomery Clift in " A Place in the Sun," " Raintree County," and "Suddenly Last Summer." Starring in three movies with Taylor moves him up the list. Clift does not have the personal relationship of marriage with Elizabeth that the other two co-stars shared.

Eddie Fisher

Eddie Fisher divorced Debbie Reynolds to be with Taylor. Dumping Debbie Reynolds is quite a statement about the lure of Taylor. Eddie and Elizabeth were married. The couple also starred together in "Butterfield 8." Taylor won her first Best Actress Award because of the movie. Since the movie was important award-wise to Taylor 's career, and the couple was married, this was selected despite only one film together.

Other Big Stars

Other big stars could have been selected such as Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, Peter O'Toole, Rock Hudson and James Dean. Taylor's career spanned decades and she was considered a hot actress who was in demand in her prime. Elizabeth was paired with some of the biggest names in film history. Luckily we can watch her old movies on DVD and Netflix and remember Elizabeth Taylor for the film legacy which she leaves behind.
