Ellen Degeneres Breaks Down on TV

It was another side of Ellen DeGeneres. The dancing queen of daytime TV didn't open her show in the usual way. It wasn't funny or off the wall with Ellen telling jokes and laughing. Today was different. It was a side of Ellen we rarely see.

The show began today with Ellen in tears. She was choked up and trying to keep it together. Ellen rescued a puppy from an animal shelter called Mutts and Moms in September. The dog was very hyper and Ellen spent over $3,000 to get him neutered and to have him trained to be around her cats. With no success, she gave him to her hairdresser, who in turn lost the dog to the same shelter Ellen rescued him from.

Ellen stated on her show that she did all the right things. She kept in contact with the rescue shelter constantly, but after trying desperately to train Iggy (the puppy) to be around her cats, she knew she wouldn't be able to keep him. She gave him to her friend, whose daughters fell in love with Iggy. When the shelter called, Ellen told them that she gave the dog to a good home. On Sunday, Mutts and Moms went and took the dog from the home and took it back to the rescue center.

A very emotional Ellen begged the rescue center to give the dog back. A teary eyed Degeneres pleaded with them saying, "Because I did it wrong, those people went and took that dog out of their home, and took it away from those kids."

"I feel totally responsible for it and I'm so sorry. I'm begging them to give that dog back to that family," she said. "It's not their fault. It's my fault. I shouldn't have given the dog away. Just please give the dog back to those little girls."

She also sobbed, "I thought I did a good thing. I tried to find a loving home for the dog because I couldn't keep it."

After telling her story, Ellen tried to pull it back together and let her audience know that she had some great guests on the show, and thanked them for letting her tell her story. Then she did what we look for her to do everyday, she danced with her audience.
