The decision is going to affect a lot of people in the state of California. I once have attended a gay wedding. It was a close friend from high school, Jessica Stanley.
Jessica married her partner of five years in July of 2007 in Toronto, Ontario. The wedding was just like a wedding would be imagined. There was nothing "weird" about it. Jessica had their parents blessings and they helped decorate and provide for the wedding and reception.
The couple had lived together for several years before they decided to marry. They met in college back in 2001 and began dating early 2002. In an effort to have a strong relationship before committing to each other, they moved in together, got to know each other in a comfortable setting and found what they were both looking for. The pair are hardworking women who know how to balance a healthy lifestyle. They're comfortable with each other after having the experience.
Jessica and Kayla invited their closest friends and family. Both looked stunning as Kayla majors in fashion design and designed their dresses. During the vows, they expressed their love for each other and the path they've traveled to get to where they are and nothing could have been more heartfelt.
For me, to see a good friend go off into life and be happy with someone is a peaceful feeling. They are no different than anyone else. They go on vacation together. They fight. They make up. They take each other out on dates still. They share a lot of common interest. They share so much passion for each other yet they still know when they need space and somehow seem to keep their relationship fresh.
After the wedding, a reception was held and all the craziness broke out. The crowd danced. They cried. They congratulated the couple. Jessica and Kayla each took a dance with their father and the aura was very loving the entire time. Not have I once experienced a wedding this meaningful in a straight world. The fact that it is almost difficult for gay couples to marry made this all the more special for the two.
Jessica and Kayla's future plans include moving and buying a house together. One day they would also love to have children and complete the traditional family life. They have both the maturity and youth to be successful in family as they are successful in their everyday activities.
