Do I see a possible battle for the best judge? It seems that since Ellen is now new to the show, she may easily become one of the best judges on American Idol. She is not a judge that will put the contestants down and make them seem as if their performance was absolutely horrific. She does not make them feel like they should give up on singing and find a day job. She actually critiqued each contestant nicely. I can say that she is not as "sugary sweet" as Paula Abdul is when it comes to critiquing performances, but she definitely says what she needs to without being offensive.
I now have even more reason to watch American Idol. After a few years of being a dedicated viewer, I felt like the show was slacking off and all of the talent seemed the same. I felt as if I did not have a good reason to watch the show anymore. It was almost like a rerun to me year after year. I seriously felt that American Idol needed a change and I could not quite figure out what it was. I knew for a fact that if the show continued to be boring to me, I would definitely stop watching. I am sure my little absence from American Idol's views would not have made a difference, but I definitely did not want to help a show get rich if it was not interesting. I am so happy to say that this year is not the case because I will be tuning in every week! Ellen is like a breath of fresh air to the show, and I am happy she is there to not only be a wonderful judge, but also to boost American Idol's view ratings even higher than they are now. She has many fans just from her television show and you'd better believe that many of her fans are going to also tune in to American Idol just because she is now a judge.
All I can say is welcome to American Idol, Ellen!
