Elliot Bay Brew Pub: Delicious Food and Excellent Brews

I am not a huge beer fan. Unlike a lot of folks I don't know much about special brews or the process so, on my first visit to Elliot Bay Brewhouse and Pub in Burien I wasn't entirely certain what to expect. The restaurant itself is spacious, airy and has a nice warm non-intimidating atmosphere. The staff is casually dressed and you're usually greeted as soon as you walk in.
There is a variety of seating, tables, booths, tall tables with bar stool type chairs and of course the bar area itself. You can also bring your kids as they have kiddie seats available as well. I've been there during busy times and have never waited more than about ten minutes for a table. Overall first impressions are comfortable, friendly and if the smells are anything to go by you're in for a treat.
Once seated, you can have your choice of sodas or (in my inexpert opinion) an excellent selection of locally brewed beers. I am no beer expert or connoisseur and on first glance the menu of available brews was a bit intimidating. The wait staff is incredibly helpful in this area. If you tell them a beer that you like they can often suggest one for you to try as well as suggestions for what would go well with your food.
My two personal favorites are the:
Luna Weizen: Eminently drinkable, our American-style wheat beer, weighing in at 4.25%, uses 100% imported organic German malt to achieve the intriguing flavor and aroma of citrus. Also used as the base for our Orange Infusion, a Gold medal winner at the 2001 GABF.
or
B-town Brown: The name for this beer was a slam dunk, so we just had to brew it. Mildly hopped and mahogany in color, the Brown is sure to please those who enjoy a good session ale. This recipe could be destined to become a new house favorite. 5.0% ABV
Both of those were suggestions from servers and for someone who isn't hugely into beer, delicious.
As for the food I've sampled quite a few items off of the menu and the quality has been consistently good. They server hearty portions with choices that include vegetarian choices for those of us who don't eat meat.
The menu ranges from a delicious Bavarian style pretzel appetizer to, tasty gourmet burgers (my favorite is the CRUMBLED BLEU & BACON burger), fish and chips (another favorite) and even wonderful desserts.
Overall, the Elliot Bay Brewhouse and Pub is affordable, has delicious food and is a nice place to go out for a casual lunch or dinner. You can even get some of their fantastic brews to go, they have special events etc.
You can find them at:
255 SW 152nd St.
Burien, WA 98166
By bus from downtown take any of these busses: 120, 122, 131, 132 to the Burien Transit center. From the transit center walk South to SW 150th. Take a left onto 4th ave then walk straight and the brew pub is right on the next corner.
Driving from downtown take 509 southbound, take the 148th SW exit. Make a left hand turn onto 1st ave south. Stay in the far right lane, at S 152nd street take a right. You'll find the brew pub on your left at the next light.
Enjoy and happy eats!
