Well, the answer really depends on your expectations. There is an elliptical machine for every budget range. If you are looking for that commercial quality gym elliptical machine in your living room than it is best to go with models such as the Precor 5.31 or KeysFitness CG2. These elliptical models offer a superior level of quality, ease of use, and ergonomics. However, machines of this quality are bulky in size and come with high price tags. A Precor 5.31 will run the consumer about $3,700 while a KeysFitness CG2 is priced at about $2,500. These quality machines usually come with all the bells and whistles you could imagine. They also almost always offer a lifetime warranty on parts and frames. These companies stand by their elliptical machines and can guarantee satisfaction.
However, we cannot all afford to drop thousands of dollars on a home gym. So, If you can settle for a little less quality at a lot less price than you will fair well in the elliptical machine market. If you are looking to spend between $700-$1000 then your best options lie with the NordicTrack Autrostrider 990 and the Schwinn 430. These machines will give you a decent quality for a good price. However, expect these elliptical machines to be flimsier than the commercial machines. These will also provide less in the ergonomics area. Meaning that users who are shorter than average height may have trouble using these ellipticals comfortably. On the plus side these machines offer a smaller size and a wide exercise range. Ellipticals in this price range also usually offer a range of accessories including music ports, games, and built in fans.
Consumers looking to spend a little less money can also find an elliptical machine to suit their needs. However, in the $300-$600 range, machines have sometimes questionable construction and many users report problems with individual parts. Some decent machines in the price range include the ProForm Stride Select 825 and the Weslo Elliptical. These ellipticals often come with very few accessories and workout options. Also, it is not uncommon to have these machines break often and have to be replaced. However, they will offer a good low impact workout.
It is also important to remember when you are buying fitness equipment such as an elliptical machine to buy from a reputable dealer. Often mass department stores that sell these machines do not service them and you will have to go through the company. It is best to buy from the company directly or contact the company for a preferred dealer. This will ensure that your warranty is valid and you can receive servicing for your elliptical when necessary. An elliptical can be an awesome addition to your fitness routine!

Post a CommentWe purchased a Nordictrack commercial 1300 about one month ago and have yet to be able to use it. After putting it together and turning it on the motor burnt itself up. And now we were told that we have to wait for a new motor and then pay for someone to put it in. I am very disappointed with the service that we have gotten on this product and with it being a Nordictrack, I thought that we would get a good quality product. In stead we have a brand new machine setting in our gym waiting for a new motor and the old one has never been used. When they say a limited warranty they really mean limited!!!!!!! As soon as you open the box the warranty is useless.................
