Elmer's Craft Bond Memory Book Glue Pen is a Good Product

A Product Review

Charlotte Kuchinsky
I am an avid scrapbooker. I like preserving memories for the generations to come.

One of the most important supplies when you scrapbook is the adhesive you use to attach pictures and other items to the pages of the book. It needs to be acid free, easy to use, effective and be able to stand up over time.

One of my favorite adhesives is Elmer's Craft Bond Memory Book Glue Pen. It has dual action. The narrow end is perfect for getting into tiny spots while the wide end helps cover large surfaces. Best of all, it dries completely clear, without any yellowing over time.

Elmer's Craft Bond Memory Book Glue Pen claims it is idea for scrapbooking as well as for gluing paper and some fabrics; for attaching labels and more. It claims to be easy to clean. It also promises to wash out easily it gets into fabrics and on other materials where it doesn't belong. Finally, it claims the glue is acid free and sets in just 30 minutes.

Are all those claims accurate? Let's take a look and see.

I have used Elmer's Craft Bond Memory Book Glue Pen for scrapbooking for about three years now. The pages I glued back then look every bit as good as they do today. There is no evidence of loosening, yellowing or disintegration.

The dual action pen makes it possible to glue almost anything into place. The narrow end of the pen is perfect for gluing delicate lace and intricate objects. The wide end makes it easy to glue entire pages together.

All of my friends and family love to use Elmer's Craft Bond Memory Book Glue Pen. It works like magic for scrapbooking, for art projects, for wrapping gifts and so much more. Therefore it gets 5 out of 5 stars for this claim.

Clean up is easy with Elmer's Craft Bond Memory Book Glue Pen. While it is still wet, all you have to use is a wet cloth to wipe excess glue away. Once it dries, simple soap and water will do the trick for most surfaces. Therefore it earns another 5 out of 5 stars.

When it comes to removing the glue from of fabrics and other materials; however, it gets a bit trickier. The company says to pre-soak the affected area in cold water for roughly 10 minutes. Then wash as usual for the material in question.

For non-delicate fabrics like cotton, linen and wool that appears to work well. However, for delicate fabrics like satin, silk, velvet or on surfaces like leather, it does not. Therefore, it is best to try to keep the glue from getting onto any surface. This claim gets 3 out of 5 stars.

While it is impossible to test at home to make sure the glue the acid free, the fact that it doesn't degrade delicate paper, photos, fabrics, etc. would seem to verify that claim. It is worthy of another 4 out of 5 stars.

Finally, the setting time for this glue is between 20 and 30 minutes, as claimed. That earns it another 5 out of 5 stars.

With 22 out of a possible 25 stars, Elmer's Craft Bond Memory Book Glue Pen earns 4.2 stars or a relatively solid "good" rating. It is definitely better than many other products of its type on the market today.

Elmer's Craft Bond Memory Book Glue Pen is a product of Elmer's Products, Inc. out of Columbus, OH. It conforms to the non-toxic standards established by the Art & Creative Materials Institute and carries their seal of approval.

Elmer's Craft Bond Memory Book Glue Pen can be found wherever arts and craft supplies are sold. It retails for between $2.49 and $3.59 on the average.

This is great to know. I tire quickly of poor quality products that let me down when I need them.

Thanks for the review. I used to make my husband a scrapbook for our wedding anniversary each year, but I stopped at about the 5th anniversary or so. I knew that we would soon run out of room if I carried on year after year!
