Email Addresses Hacked

If you have not already done so and you have a hotmail, MSN or live.com email account, it is a good idea to change your password. To change your password, click options on the top right hand corner of your email. Then, click password to change your password.

If your hotmail, MSN and live.com account has been hacked, you may not be able to gain access to your email account. It is not the hacker who is blocking your account, it is Microsoft. Microsoft told users they are still investigating the hacking and will block access to the emails. For more information on how to gain access to your account, click here.

Neowin.net, the technology blog which reported the hacking of hotmail, msn and live.com email accounts reports that the phishing attack may include yahoo, gmail, AOL, comcast, earthlink and other third party email services. New lists are circulating containing account information of gmail, comcast, earthlink and other third party email services. The site containing the lists, pastebin.com is currently down because of an unusual amount of traffic. \ Pastebin.com is a website where developers share code.

BBC has reported seeing two lists containing more than 30,000 names and passwords of email users. Google has said less than 500 email accounts have been affected by the phishing attack. Google also said it discovered a third list but it did not say how many email accounts were affected.

Phishing is an email sent to users with the intention of getting personal information including bank, log in, passwords and personal addresses. The email is disguised to make it look like it comes from your bank or a financial institution or another company. Be careful when you open attachments and update your antivirus program regularly. If you have yahoo, gmail, AOL, comcast, earthlink and other third party email services, change your password and security question.
