Sylvania Netbook is a Lot of Device for Just $99

Barbie Crafts
The Sylvania netbook from CVS is pre-loaded with Windows Live Messenger, which is ready to use. There is a feature that allows you to actually speak by voice to a friend on Messenger by using the built in microphone. I am not sure if they mean the plug-in for the microphone or a built-in one that allows you to speak to the front of the netbook like my laptop. I tried to record with the built-in microphone and did not have success. It may be that a little inexpensive plug-in microphone is necessary.

Regardless, you can instant message with any of your friends on Windows Live Messenger or Hotmail. I signed in to a different hotmail account on my laptop and I used Windows Messener to instant message myself. It worked efficiently.

This application is called Windows CE messenger client application. Windows CE is the operating system that this little device uses. although, it has usually been used on pda's or cell phones, and it runs mobile sites. You can change the settings to "same as Windows XP" or "Pocket PC," changing this under "Internet Options," I tried this and was not too impressed.

So, you can be assured that the messenger system pre-installed on these devices is functional. This netbook does the best work for you when it is functioning within what it is most equipped to do, which is use mobile sites and the application already installed.

CVS Netbook - I can go to the Internet, and many sites, however, whenever I go to Yahoo and login my Mail, it just show "opening page: hyyp..mail.yahoo.... Anything else I can change. (Before login, there is cryptic message on Certificat authentication.)
