Finding the Recipients Provider
To send a free SMS through a cellular carrier's Email to SMS Gateway, you will need to know the recipients cell phone carrier. Fonefinder provides a phone number to carrier lookup. Enter the first seven digits of a phone number including the area code and Fonefinder returns the carrier for that group of numbers.
Clicking on the providers name sends you to the carrier's website, which is important if the carrier has gone through a merger or takeover. For example, testing an AT&T cell number, gave Cingular Wireless as the provider, but clicking on the carrier link directs you to the AT&T website. Use the AT&T email to GSM gateway format above.
