I am a mother of two handsome boys. My one son Gabe, who just turned 7 a couple months back was my first pregnancy and it took me by surprise on the embarrassing symptoms I had. I was left red-faced a lot during those 9 months. My second son Eli, who is only 9 months old was so much easier. I t think with have the second one I got to the point where I didn't care what people thought about my symptoms. I knew the outcome was so going to be worth everything I went through!
First there is the gas situation you will have to face. The first time those little squeaks come out, you will cover your mouth and think uh-oh, I can not believe I just did that in public. However your body can not help it, and it a very natural thing so do not be embarrassed about it. Just do what I did. Lets say you are in a store and you feel like one is coming on, ask your husband if you let one out can you blame him. I used that a lot! Also I tended to use the kids around me for scape goats, considering we did grace the isles at the store that children were in a lot. If you are standing around 5 or so kids and the smell of gas comes around, the other people will never put you and that fart together! If you want to lessen the embarrassing gas leaks then make sure you do watch what you eat. Make sure you are eating smaller but more frequent meals. Leave the sodas alone and the fizzy drinks, and also lay off beans!
Next if you are not passing gas, you may be leaking out the old peeing fluids! When you get further along in your pregnancy your ever so lovely baby is sitting right on top of your bladder. It makes you have to pee all the time! It will even occur when you are feeling no symptoms of peeing coming on. The next thing you will feel is the lovely warm stream coming down your leg. Luckily your socks are there to catch it! I can not tell you how many times I peed on myself with my second child. It got to a point where I had to wear a super size pad just to catch the flow of the urine. Coughing, or even sneezing to laughing always made me wet myself!
Third you may feel like your symptom of the "morning sickness" is just finally got to the point where it disgust you. Especially if you are sitting in the middle of a lovely restaurant and it hits you all at once and you have no time to make it to the bathroom so you end up puking right there on the floor next to the Jones's family dinner table. When this happened to me I did get embarrassed a lot, but with my first child I had the morning sickness up until I was 7 months along. The bigger I got, the harder it was for me to move fast. The slower I was, the more likely my food coming up was going to the be the talk of the families hilarious moments for a long time! I did find a way to help my morning sickness ease off a little. If I wasn't eating, I was sucking on peppermints. If I was eating it would always be a small meal just in case it did not agree with my baby.
So, the next fun thing you may get to experience in your pregnancy is the famous forgetfulness. Due to the changing in your hormones, many women will experience memory loss. Important events, times and dates will be harder for you to keep track of because your mind is working in so many different ways due to what your body is going through and what it will go through. When I was pregnant with Gabe and about 8 months along I called up my best friend on evening. I asked her what she was doing and she said that her and her whole family was out to dinner. I was dumb founded because they all never go out to dinner together so I rudely asked why and what for. She starting questioning me if I remembered what the day was. I thought she was being mean about it so I told her to call me later after the dinner and she could fill me in on what I didn't remember. When she called me she kindly reminded me that is was her birthday. Now of course a lot of people tend to forget birthdays, but not when you have been friends with someone since they were 5 years old! I was so embarrassed. I felt completely awful.
There are so many other fun stories I could share and I am sure you may already have a few that you would love to spill about as well. Just remember that nothing is embarrassing when you are bringing an angel into this world. We may have to fart in kids faces, puke on little Tommy tacos, and even ruin a 20 plus year friendship to have this bundle of joy look at you and smile that sweet smile. It is all worth it! Even when you poop as your pushing out your bundle of joy (and nobody ever told me that happens until it happened to me) remember nothing compares to this!
