Embassy Suites Hotel - Livonia/Novi Michigan Location

A Nice Place to Stay, but Nothing Spectacular

Suzanne Rose
We stayed at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Livonia Michigan for our wedding night. I choose this place because it was near our reception hall and they offered free breakfast which seemed like a good idea considering we knew we wouldn't be in the mood to cook the day after our wedding. We originally called them to see if we could have our reception at their hotel because they seemed to have a pretty lobby, but they were already booked so instead I just decided to use them for the room. When we arrived at the hotel it was late at night and check in was a breeze.

Our room was on the 3rd or 4th floor. All the rooms are around the outside walls so that when you are walking around the hallway you are actually able to look over to the center area of the hotel. The center area is where they do breakfast and where they have a restaurant too. After walking to our room, I found the hotel to appear much smaller than I expected and looked down at the gardens I had seen on the website which looked more like a tiny walkway.

Our room was a two-room suite which included a bedroom with a large king bed and a TV, a regular bathroom, and a sitting room with a TV. I do like the idea of having two separate rooms as there was even a door on the bedroom. This would be nice on a vacation because it would give you and your family a chance to have some alone time. Or, if you like to stay up late and your sweety goes to bed early, he can just shut the door while you watch TV in the sitting area. Embassy Suites likes to advertise how all the rooms are "suites" but that doesn't mean you get a kitchen or anything real special. In reality, it just means they have a door to seperate the bedroom and the sitting area and that's about the only difference.

The decor was decent, nothing spectacular, and perhaps even a little bit dull. A lot of browns and greens were all around whereas I usually prefer bright and colorful hotel rooms. The sitting area was fine, no thoughts either way on that. It gave us a place to sit and relax after a long day! The bed was comfy, but honestly I don't remember it being wonderful, it was just a bed. I had no trouble sleeping because, after all, I had been up since very early in the morning.

The morning breakfast was just OK. I had friends that raved about how cool the free breakfast is at Embassy Suites, but I just didn't find it that great. For one thing, the scrambled eggs were cold - I hate that! The selection was decent but not exceptional. Considering this hotel charges more than others in the area, I would have hoped the breakfast would be spectacular. It was included though, so we made sure to have our fill before checking out.

The reception room because we saw the wedding from the day before cleaning it out. I was actually glad I saw this room because it made me happy we didn't end up having our wedding at Embassy Suites. It didn't seem like a special enough room for a wedding, we were glad we went with a Hall instead. The garden atrium (mentioned above) was just as small as it looked from upstairs looking down. I had originally thought we could take wedding pictures there, but after seeing it there was nothing special about it and I was glad we didn't end up with that option.

The pool was very small. We took a look at the pool and walked around it just to see for future reference. It was tiny! I can't even imagine what it would be like if a lot of people were trying to swim in it.

Overall: Embassy Suites was a decent place to stay for the night, but I wouldn't want to have a wedding there because it just didn't seem fancy or special as it looked online. I don't know if I'd want to spend a long vacation at this hotel as it seems more ideal for Business people than visitors. Booking online is pretty easy, even though the website is a little clumsy when you are just looking around. I'd recommend the Embassy Suites in the Livonia/Novi for businesses mostly. Other guests could choose this location if there isn't much else available or if you just need a room for one night.

Hmm, I don't even know if ours had a courtyard. This one is actually right off the expressway so I don't think there's any outdoor area besides parking lot :)

The one here is nice too, although it has been there for ages! The courtyard is always kept up and gorgeous.
