Embrace It?

Quickpaws
An old man told me to embrace
The things that can't be changed.
How can he live his life this way?
He HAS to be deranged!

Sit back and quietly accept
The violence and war?
What about the drugs
That didn't threaten us before?

And how on Earth can I embrace
The loneliness I feel?
It burns like acid in my soul,
Becoming all too real.

The phone rings, but it's not for me.
It's for my oldest daughter.
I thirst for love and romance
Like a desert thirsts for water,
And when I go to bed at night,
There's no one there to hold,
No one there to share my dreams
That shine so bright and bold!

Solitude is cancer,
Spreading faster with each day.
Like fire, it will DESTROY me,
And alone...
I'll fly away.
