As a working mommy to a preschooler and an infant, life just can't get much busier. I fly out the door each morning in such a rush, breakfast has to be on the go. I try to eat healthy so toaster pastries are out, as well as "sit-down" breakfasts like oatmeal or cereal. Fortunately I recently came across Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix. Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix is a blend of healthy nuts, granola, and other tasty treats all wrapped up in a portable container. The question is, did Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix meet my criteria for taste and health as well as portability?
First of all, Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix is a small packet of trail-mix style tasty bites. The packs are easily taken along to eat in the car, bus, or at your desk. The Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix that I tried is the S'mores nut blend. This blend contains Cocoa Roast almonds, granola, chocolate pieces, coconut, and honey roasted peanuts. This mix has 200 calories, 10 grams of fat (3 saturated), 3% of sodium, and 4 grams of protein. There are 14 grams of sugar and 2 grams of fiber. While the nutrition facts aren't amazing, they aren't too bad either. I love getting a breakfast with some protein and a little fiber and this fits the bill. Additionally, 10 grams of fat isn't bad considering the nuts contained in Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix. And the addition of almonds really boosts the nutritional value with healthy fats and antioxidants.
The taste of Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix is really the highlight of this quick breakfast. The mix of sweet and salty is super tasty, especially if you happen to be a nut lover like me. The sweetness is great for a light breakfast, but the overall mix isn't so sweet that it feels like dessert instead of a meal.
One of the drawbacks to Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix is that it is a bit difficult to eat on the run. To really enjoy the flavor of the S'mores nut blend you need to eat all of the components of the mix together in one bite. This is difficult to do in say, your car, and if you happen to miss your mouth you are in for a real mess. The portability is nice, but certainly not as easy to eat as a granola bar, or nuts alone.
Overall I give Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix four out of five stars. The mix of decent nutrition with outstanding flavor, and pretty good portability makes this a great option for busy people that still want to eat a filling and somewhat nutritious breakfast. Emerald Breakfast on the go! Nut and Granola Mix is found in the granola bar and breakfast aisle at your local grocery store and costs about $3.50 for a box of 5 1.5 ounce pouches.
