Emerald Coast: A Laid - Back Vacation is Waiting

Ebie Harris
The beauty of the Emerald Coast is mesmerizing. The striking green waters and pure white sand make you feel as if you are in paradise. Plan an unforgettable vacation today to Northwest Florida's hidden treasure. Vacation on the Emerald Coast in Destin, Fort Walton Beach, or Okaloosa Island.

Every year thousand of tourists visit the friendly waters of the Emerald Coast. The 24 miles of pure white sand and magnificent emerald green waters are what draws the tourist in. Amazing seafood, championship golf courses, and first-rate entertainment are what keeps them coming back.

Unlike many beach destinations, the energy on the Emerald Coast is extremely relaxing. If you truly desire a lazy day at a beautiful beach then the beaches on the Emerald Coast are for you. The warm winds from the Gulf of Mexico are a perfect complement to the relaxing surf.

Whenever you decide to visit the seaside towns on the Emerald Coast you will be greeted with ideal weather. The summers in the Destin, Fort Walton Beach, and Okaloosa Island area are hot, the fall and spring months are warm, and the days of winter are mild. All throughout the year the sunsets on the Emerald Coast are memorable. Rich colors of gold and pink light up the sky.

The beaches on the Emerald Coast offer some of the most breathtaking views on the entire East coast. For many visitors to Destin, Fort Walton Beach, and Okaloosa Island their favorite past time is relaxing on the pure white sandy beaches. Lounging in a chair by the edge of the green waters or sprawling across a beach towel soaking in the warm summer rays are enough for most. If your lucky, when your gazing out across the beautiful emerald waters, you just may spot a dolphin or two playing in the warm Gulf of Mexico.

My favorite non-beach activity to do along the Emerald Coast are shopping, eating, and spending at day at Florida's Gulfarium.

Florida's Gulfarium is fun for kids of all ages. Spend the day learning about penguins, seals, and sea turtles. Grab a quick meal and be sure to pick up a souvenir at the large gift shop before leaving.

Destin Commons is the place to shop along the Emerald Coast. This open-air plaza is a shoppers paradise with more than 70 speciality shops. This is one shopping trip the guys will want to come along for. The Bass Pro Shops at the Destin Commons are a fishermen dream.

The Emerald Coast offers plenty of opportunities for fine eating. You will find everything from upscale restaurants right down to your neighborhood oyster bar. With more than 400 restaurants lining the Emerald Coast, it is hard to choose a favorite. However, if I had to pick one I would say my favorite restaurant is The Lucky Snapper. Located right in Destin, The Lucky Snapper has a great atmosphere and the food to match. I keep going back not only because I enjoy the laid-back attitudes of the employees; I find the outdoor seating offers incredible views of the Destin Harbor.
