Emergency - Big Brother 9 - Amanda & Allison in Hospital

Judith Blakley
In the evening of February 22, 2008, two women within the Big Brother 9 house had to be rushed to the emergency room. Amanda had a seizure and Allison a severe allergic reaction.

Amanda has been on slop for twenty-four hours, and she has low blood sugar, hypoglycemia. She fainted in the hallway and began having what sounds like an asthma attack with convulsions. (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1cormUbnNM) The Houseguests tried to get her into the Diary Room and James kept calling out to Big Brother for help. Ryan yelled for them to get someone in there. Sharon told them to give her a piece of bread or something because she needs something to bring up her sugar. The live feeds were cut as they got Amanda out of the house.

Allison had an allergic reaction to peanuts. Alex is describing to the other Houseguests how Allison looked when he found her. Her lips were "blown up" she had hives and she could not talk. (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72iNE8DTuUY)

Shelia talks to Alex about Amanda's health issue. He is worried about her (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFyGXmV-vXc).

Sharon asks if Big Brother will let them send flowers and Matt said they would make them a big get well thing. (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCO8vnsvBQE) He said they would make it out of nail polish and "Natalie would paint something up nice." They want to know if they will have TVs in their rooms, then they discuss the paramedics coming and the CBS Studio's nurse.

Shelia gives Adam a hard time because he apparently tried to prevent her from telling the paramedics anything. Shelia said they asked her what Allison had eaten and "I knew what she ate because I was with her." (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H45JccZER5k) Adam said "I said something else." Shelia said "Oh, I thought you were telling me 'Shut up' because I was telling the paramedics that she ate a peanut."

The Houseguests talk about how Big Brother is going to handle Amanda's hypoglycemia and being on slop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg-sXwiCAys).

At this point, no word has been given the Houseguests on the condition of either Amanda or Allison. CBS has issued no statement on the emergency, nor their conditions. As soon as more information comes in, it will be posted on my Big Brother 9 webpage: www.squidoo.com/bb9.

It was scary and so strange that the events happen around the same time. Great coverage.

Oh! What drama! My brother knows, and actually works with Joshua, from Big Brother 9. I've been trying to stay abreast only because I want to see how this turns out for him. Thanks for the Amanda and Allison update! How scary!
