EMI Commemorates John Lennon's 70th Birthday with Remastered CD's

J Budd, RN
In honor of John Lennon's 70th birthday (October 9, 2010), EMI Records will release several new CDs and a box set this fall.

Double Fantasy has been 'Stripped Down'

As I mentioned in a previous article here on Associated Content (click link below), it was rumored that Yoko Ono and co-producer Jack Douglas were working on some sort of acoustic version of Lennon's last album Double Fantasy. It turns out this is partially true. The new CD, Double Fantasy Stripped Down, removes most of the music in order to, "highlight John's amazing vocals," as Yoko Ono puts it. This will be a two CD set with the new Stripped Down version and the original version of Double Fantasy.

I'm sick and tired of hearing things, Gimme Some Truth!

John Lennon's music has always been very personal and political. The four CD set called Gimme Some Truth will break down John's songs by category on each CD: Politics, love, (rock and roll) roots, and his life. A total of 72 songs will be on the four CD's.

Power To The People, right on!

Named after one of John Lennon's most popular political songs, Power To The People will be released as two separate CD's. One CD will contain 15 John Lennon hits. The second CD, referred to as Experienced Edition will also contain those same 15 songs, but promises additional content that has yet to be announced. Each CD will contain booklets.

Introducing The John Lennon Signature Box Set

If you were one of the many Beatles fans who lined up at record stores on 09-09-09 to buy one of the digitally remastered Beatles CD Box Sets, save your money for this October. The John Lennon Signature Box Set will contain 11 CD's: all 8 John Lennon studio albums remixed, including Double Fantasy original and Stripped down, a CD of rare unreleased songs, a non album singles CD with songs like Instant Karma, plus a limited edition John Lennon art print and a hardbound book with rare photos, poetry, and art work.

He was always my favorite Beatle and 70 is probably like the new 65 or something.

I agree with Nancy, weird that he would have been 70 and weird the rest of the Beatles are around that age too. But hey, I'm not that many years away from 50 so we all (hopefully) will get their eventually, LOL.
