Emily Maynard "The Bachelorette" to Be

Fans of the ABC reality television show want to know the answer to one question these days. Is Emily Maynard going to be "The Bachelorette?" It seems like it might actually become reality after her failed relationship with "The Bachelor" Brad Womack.

According to several publications, Maynard is inching closer to becoming "The Bachelorette." The favorite on the Brad Womack season is in talks with ABC to land the role according to US Weekly. The magazine sites a source who says the Emily "Bachelorette" appearance is practically a "done deal."

This comes on the heels of the big break-up with 38 year old "Bachelor" Brad Womack. Emily was an extremely popular figure on that Womack season so it's not completely surprising that she'd be the top choice for the show-given her recent break-up.

Maynard, who was rumored to finish second at one point during her season, was initially my projection to get the role landed by Ashley Hebert. When "The Bachelor" spoiler turned out to be incorrect, it was clear Maynard would have no opportunity to play that part. In fact, it was a bit of a downer and I think many fans were dissapointed she wouldn't get the nod-but happy she had found apparent love with "Bachelor" Brad.

What has followed since is a decent season with Hebert in front of the males suitors. Hebert wasn't certainly as popular of a pick as Maynard would have been. But her season has certainly provided a good share of drama including the Bentley Williams fiasco. Maynard was quick at one point to take up for Hebert when Bentley had stated he wished "The Bachelorette" would have been Emily instead of Ashley. Now he'll get his wish.

Does that mean Bentley Williams could earn a spot on "The Bachelorette" Emily Maynard season? And will "The Bachelorette" go back to back with just "Bachelor Pad 2" inbetween since it seems apparent ABC has made its choice. A Bentley Williams appearance would be a major "get" for ABC considering his epic fail as a "good guy" but colossal statement as a villain during his "The Bachelorette" appearance.

If Emily decides to go for it, and it certainly looks tht way for now, it could provide one of the most compelling and most watched "Bachelorette" runs to date-whether Bentley is invited or not. Emily gained many fans with her southern charm and heartbreaking personal story during her time on "The Bachelor" Brad season. She'll also bring along a young daughter much like Jason Mesnick did during his stint as "The Bachelor." It all adds up to a big ratings win for the ABC franchise if she does accept the part. Expect heavy promos with Maynards face airing soon after the upcoming July 11th interview if that's the case. ABC will be quick to publicize Maynard as the girl next door and who could blame them?

Will she actually find true love on the show this time around? It seemed that distance was a horrible obstacle for her relationship with Womack. What happens to Emily Maynard when she is presented with the option of dating some of these guys from hundreds or thousands of miles away? The 25 suitors can't all be from North Carolina, can they? It will be interesting to see what develops if "The Bachelorette" includes Maynard in the fall or summer on ABC. People seem to have personally adopted Maynards future so anyone pulling any Bentley stunts this time around will inevitably be cast as an epic villain. Hopefully she steers clear of the wannabe reality stars and finds a guy who is close enough to home in proximity and of her heart. But you never really know with "The Bachelorette?" Even if it's somewhat smooth--expect lots of drama. In other words, more watchable television featuring another in a long line of serial "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" hopefuls.
