Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent Soar with Digital Release of "Crack a Bottle"

"Crack a Bottle" cracks the charts with digital release
With 418,000 downloads Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent took the number one spot for first-week single downloads with "Crack a Bottle." The song soared to number 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart on Thursday. After four weeks on the charts, "Crack a Bottle" shot from number 78 to number 1, after breaking the digital download record following the songs digital download release.

The last collaboration between the three rap stars, Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent was in January 2005 on "Encore." "Encore" was a popular download, but couldn't touch "Crack a Bottle" downloads. "Encore" topped out at number 25 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles, which includes CD and digital purchases.

Rihanna Beat out by new digital single download record

"Crack a Bottle" new record for first week digital downloads beat out "Live Your Life," a T.I. song featuring Rihanna. "Live Your Life" previously held the record with 418,000 first-week downloads.

Music Moves on Billboard's Singles Chart

Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent's "Crack a Bottle," bumped Kelly Clarkson's "My Life would Suck Without You" from the number one spot on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart. Clarkson's hit dropped to number four.

Kanye West took the number two spot with "Heartless," up from number 3 after fourteen weeks on the chart.

"Just Dance" has hovered around the top between the first and third spots. This week Lady GaGa's hit featuring Colby O'Donis settled in at number 3.

Beyonce's "Single Lady (Put a Ring on It) fell from number 2, but managed to hang in at number 5.

Other than the popularity of rap stars Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent, "Crack a Bottle's" digital download tidal wave proves the new importance of digital downloads in the music industry. We want our music portable, and we want it on demand.
