Eminem's new album, Recovery, is a testament on his road to real life recovery from a terrible addiction to prescription pills and alcohol. Recovery, was set to be launched from the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theater with co-headliner Jay-Z but because of the riots at the South Street Seaport show, featuring Drake and Hanson the week before, the gig was called to a halt by Mayor Bloomberg. However, that didn't stop the musicians from playing a surprise show in New York.

Jay-Z and Eminem performed for 100 fans including P. Diddy during the taping of the David Letterman show which will be broadcast in the U.S. this week. Eminem performed the song Not Afraid from the album, Recovery, which rumor says is going to hit the top of the Billboard charts this week.

Recovery came about after a long haitus for Eminem where he got clean from the drugs he was infecting his body with. Most of them prescription pills including Ambien, Valium, Vicodin and methadone, to name just a few. His last album, Relapse, released last May, sold less that any of his other albums yet was still considered the top selling rap album of 2009 with less than 2 million copies being sold. It showed Eminem that his fans were still loyal.

His new perspective on the world and fans is described in the lyrics from the songs found on Recovery. According to a Shade 45 interview, Eminem claimed this album was more "emotional driven" than any of his other albums. It is impossible not to feel the emotion with lyrics like, "I'm not afraid to take a stand. Everybody come take my hand. We'll walk this road together, through the storm. Whatever weather, cold or warm. Just let you know that, you're not alone. Holla if you feel that you've been down the same road," from the song Not Afraid off the album. You can view the youtube video of the song here.

Some tracks off Recovery feature other famous musicians including Pink, Rihanna, Lil' Wayne, Kobe and Dr. Dre (his mentor and friend). It seems that on the road to Recovery, Eminem, has come a long way from his Slim Shady days. Recovery has already scored #1 on the UK Billboard Chart. It is expected to drop Drake's album, "Thank Me Later", to the number 2 spot on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and to put Miley Cyrus' new album, "Can't Be Tamed", in the number 3 spot.
