Emma Watson: Harry Potter's Hermoine Granger

Antoinette McGowan
Emma Watson who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies was born Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson on April 15,1990 in Oxford, Oxford shire, England. The Harry Potter movies were Watson's first debut into professional acting. Prior to this she had play the leading role in numerous plays at school, which include "Arthur: The Young Years" along with the play "The Happy Prince". Aside from acting in school plays Watson had also taken part in the school's "Daisy Pratt Poetry Competition", for which she had won first place for her year of age seven.

A look at Watson's life away from the movies screen shows that she is the daughter of two divorced lawyers, Jacqueline and Chris. Watson resides with her mother and younger brother Alex. Despite the fact that in the Harry Potter movies her hair is brown, Watson is naturally a blonde. Also in her personal time away from acting Watson likes to play hockey and enjoys taking part in debating.

Watson's academic achievements are just as impressive as her acting abilities. Watson has achieved eight A and two A passes in her GSCEs. This exams are what English students take during their last compulsory year in high school. Between September of 1995 and July of 2001 Watson had attended The Dragon School which is a prominent preparatory school in Oxford. Then between September of 2001 and July of 2006 Watson attended Headington School for girls.

Watson has a remarkable amount of award nominations. Some of these great nominations include:

Saturn Award in the Category of Best Performance by a Younger Actor for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone at the 2002 Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.

BFCA Award in the category of Best Young Actress for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban at the 2005 Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards and again in 2006 in the same category for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Watson's recognition is not just in the form of nominations though; Watson has won some awards in which she was nominated for. The awards she has won are:

Young Artist Award in the category of Best Performance in a Feature Film-Leading Young Actress for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone at the 2002 Young Artist Awards.

PFCS Award in the category of Best Performance by a Youth in a Leading or Supporting Role-Female for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets at the 2003 Phoenix Film Critics Society Awards.

Nominations and awards are not the only way Watson has been receiving recognition though. In February 2004 while barely just a teenager, Watson was named tenth in "The Hottest Female Stars", also in 2004 Watson got the chance to serve on the jury to select the 2004 teenaged film-makers "First Light Film Awards" ceremony.

Emma Watson has been growing up right before the world's eye and has proved to be growing into a very well-rounded person who has high achievements both professionally as an actress and academically as a student. We are just waiting to see just what else Emma Watson has in store for the world.
