Emma Watson and the People Tree Clothing Line

While we may know her as the super smart Hermoine Granger from the Harry Potter film series, the fashion world knows young English actress Emma Watson as a fashionista and designer of a new line of clothes for youngsters. While she is joining the ranks of young entertainment icons like Mary Kate and Ashley, Watson's clothes have a special twist- they are clothes which help the less fortunate and the planet.

In February, Emma and People Tree announced that they were joining forces to create a line of clothes which were fashion and socially conscious. Watson, a student at Brown University, is known as the face of Burberry, but helped launch this line because she felt that young people should have more options about what they wear and how their clothes are made.

The fundamental concept of this new line, called Love from Emma, is that the clothes are handmade 100% organic and fairtrade-certified cotton from India, Bangladesh and Nepal. This collection creates livelihoods for people in less developed regions by giving them opportunities to create the beautiful knitting, embroidery and weaving used in the designed.

Love from Emma will showcase 15 men's and 26 women's styles. The line will include t-shirts, jersey dresses, head scarves, mini mod dresses, and play suits for the ladies and cardigans, tops, slacks and shirts for the gents.

The fashion forward clothes convey a sense of comfort as well as style. The various accessories and separates are reasonably priced and compliment any wardrobe.

For the new line, Emma Watson served as creative adviser to the team at People Tree. As Watson informed Kate Devine of Stylecaster, "I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range ... because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with. It has been the most incredible gap year project."

Watson is not the first to consider an eco-fashion forward clothing line. Big brands such as Levi and well known designers such as Susan Woo have all considered the necessity of ethical clothing lines.

While the clothes convey a philosophical feeling of awareness, they also convey literal messages. Many of the clothes offer cute phrases such as "Please Don't Panic, I'm Organic" and trendy renditions of the Union Jack. The clothes are socially conscious as well as cool.

Emma Watson's collaboration with People Tree has earned her respect and compliments from the fashion world. While unlike Hermoine, who seems to memorize Hogwarts' A History, Watson has a clear understanding of what young people want from their clothes and their clothing makers. As our world struggles with becoming more progressive and aware, it is refreshing to see genuine and intelligent advocates for culture sensitivity, economic justice and the environment.

My name is Michael Bayouth and I am a designer. I have an original idea for Emma Watson's line of organic clothing. I don't know how to find her people so it can be presented to her. The concept is solid and the logo is already designed and ready to go. It is what many friends believe to be a very important mark that could become a effective handle to raise awareness in the organic clothing world. My portfolio site is at www.bayouth.com Any help in getting this note to her people or her would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
