The first 2009 Emmy winner that disappointed me was that Entourage or Weeds did not win an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. Instead, the 2009 Emmy winner for Outstanding Comedy Series was 30 Rock.
The second Emmy Award winner 2009 that disappointed me was Jon Cryer for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. I was really rooting for Kevin Dillon as "Johnny Drama" in HBO's Entourage. As the winner was announced, I could see the disappointment in his face and that just made it worse for me.
The drama series House was not an Emmy winner for 2009 for Outstanding Drama Series. I could have lived with Dexter, Breaking Bad, or Big Love winning the award. However, Mad Men was the winner. .
I just think that House is such a wonderful drama series - especially when you take in to consideration all the medical knowledge that is required in order to write the series. The fact that House wasn't even nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series is beyond me as well.
On the bright side, Toni Collette from Showtime's United States of Tara was a 2009 Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Toni Collette plays Tara Gregson, a mother of two with multiple personalities.
Not only does Toni Collette have to play a typical suburban mom, she has to play a perfectionist housewife, drunken bachelor, and 17 year old wild child. Toni Collette was undoubtedly deserving of an Emmy Award.
Bryan Cranston won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Walter White in AMC's Breaking Bad. This Emmy winner for 2009 is very deserving as well.
In Breaking Bad, Cranston plays Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who has cancer. In order to pay medical bills, White turns to manufacturing and selling meth. Although the story in and of itself doesn't sound wholesome, seeing a normal every day guy trying to make it selling drugs is actually quite humorous.
Now that the Emmy Award 2009 winners have been announced, we can only anticipate next year's celebration. Who will be nominated? Will those who were forgotten this year be recognized next? One can only hope.

Post a CommentI am equally disappointed for all the reasons you pointed above, and agree with your opinions on the subject. Equally glad that the best actor award went to Cranston - so glad the show is being recognized on some level.
I'm with you on House--they've deserved all the writing, acting and direction awards they've received in the past, but the seriously--the constant high quality and freshness of its eps after so many seasons (and despite being a procedural show bound by network parameters) really shows what an incredible achievement House is. They've so deserved Best Drama for years. I hope the Emmys finally get that right next year.
Entourage is frat-opera...Really not a well written show. Maybe next year dudes! There are subtle jokes on 30 Rock, maybe a little over your heads.
Your article is right on...why 30 Rock again? A show like Entourage deserves to win...who votes for the same boring shows like 30 Rock over and over..I thought the same before even reading your article...And the Johnny Drama character is hysterical...definitely another bad choice by the Emmy's not to give an Emmy to Kevin Dillon
Why do I care if you are disappointed that your shows did not win, most of the shows you mentioned either have too much sex, violence, horrible lanuage or a life style that in the real world is unexceptable. Tell us who won.
House is not a good drama. Their medical knowledge may be correct, but all you have to do is open a text book and randomly choose a disease and somehow incorporate it into the plot. And what kind of doctor is House anyway??? He does emergency medicine, internal, general surgery, neurosurgery?? No doctor on the earth is even allowed to practice all those disciplines. He would have to do 4 year residencies in each one to be boarded and licensed. House's character is so one dimensional too.
