Emmy Winners 2009 List: 21 HBO Wins and 6 Showtime Wins

Meg G.
The Emmy winners 2009 list includes 21 wins for HBO, 6 for Showtime, and 5 for AMC. NBC, ABC, and FOX all received double-digit Emmy wins as well with 16, 11, and 10 wins, respectively.

Why NBC, ABC, and FOX have so many awards on the Emmy winners 2009 list is beyond me. 30 Rock brought in several awards, which is really surprising considering there were more deserving shows nominated in each category.

The Emmy winners 2009 list included some surprises and some disappointments. Of my personal disappointments is the fact that Kevin Dillon did not win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Johnny Drama in HBO's hit series Entourage.

After seeing that the Emmy winners 2009 list would not include Kevin Dillon, I momentarily tuned off from the Emmy awards and tuned in to the newest episode of Entourage on HBO.

Seeing Johnny Drama choose Lloyd Lee as his agent over Ari Gold showed that Kevin Dillon's character is multi-dimensional and has a heart. This cements the fact that Kevin Dillon should have been included on the Emmy winners' 2009 list.

Big Love, House, and Dexter lost Outstanding Drama Series to Mad Men. I was in shock when I found out it was Mad Men who made the Emmy winners 2009 list in lieu of one of the other shows. Until this point, I hadn't ever heard of Mad Men.

On the bright side, two of my favorite stations - HBO and Showtime - won a combined 27 Emmy Awards. 18 actors and actresses from HBO won individual awards, while three HBO shows were included on the Emmy winners 2009 list.

Showtime boasted 6 individual awards. There were no Showtime shows on the Emmy winners 2009 list. This is very disappointing, as shows such as Californication, Weeds, Dexter, and United States of Tara are all very wonderful shows. At least one of these shows should have been on the Emmy Winners 2009 list.

Even though the Emmy winners 2009 list is set in stone, everyone will undoubtedly have their disappointments. In addition to the Emmy winners 2009 list, the best and worst dressed at the Emmys is also an Internet sensation.

Viewing the best and worst dressed celebrities on the red carpet can be just as exciting as well. You may be surprised over what the guests wore.

Why didn't Entourage win many or any awards? Was Jeremy Piven even nominated for an Emmy?

You can't be serious... One Kevin Dillon's performance opposite the emmy's was this season. Seeing as he was nominated for last season your not too bright. Two 30 Rock is great as a whole, however the idea of categories is to recognize the parts... Finally Mad Men isn't my favorite show but my 93 year old grandmother has heard of it and she hasn't watched anything but the wheel and the price is right. Please don't write ever again... in fact gouge your eyes out and cut off your thumbs.

To reiterate, You have never heard of Mad Men?! Breaking Bad and Mad Men are two of the best drama series on TV. Props to AMC for the quality programs. Meg, please stop wasting your time with Hero's and Grey's Anatomy and other garbage.

I love Kevin Dillon. But, he's a bigger ham than his character on Entourage. He doesn't get an emmy. 30 Rock deserves every accolade it gets. The writing is exceptional and the characters are incredible. Dr.Spaceman!

This is a very misleading headline..."Emmy Winners 2009"?????
They should be listed under the different
    categories. Totally inadequate.

  • WTF9/21/2009

The headline says "Emmy Winners 2009 List". Where's the list?

  • K9/21/2009

Let me get this straight: you're a TV writer, yet you've never heard of Mad Men? May I ask where you've been for the last two years??

Good synopsis as I didn't have the time to watch. Thanks.
