deciding
purpose
here and now
the past may shape
but i re-form it
cannot control
if i refuse
tired of getting by
gonna spread my wings
and fly
be who i am
and meant to be
in the wind that leads
though never too far
to return
for a vivid memory
more recent
plays in my mind
as i made to leave
arms flung around
drawing me near
that moved me
nearly to tears
as i felt Emotion
-- and as that
with mordant wings
attempts to pace me
to engulf with his
false lessons
of nevermore
i laugh as
he was proven wrong
once
and may be again
as i recall the
shattered box
and the broken shard
i keep as a reminder
