Empathy for a Vampire
Loneliness has become a part of me,
A soulless sense of agony.
Those who can't understand,
Have not walked in the shoes of this man.
Loneliness has become a part of me.
A cavern of lonely misery.
Be careful what you share with those,
Who cannot possibly understand.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself,
Not about housing or wealth,
Has to do with loss and grief,
Stolen like a thief.
Loneliness has become a part of me
Bleak as an autumn leafless tree.
Coatless in the slivered icy night,
Bloodless full of fright.
Loneliness has become a part of me,
I could warm myself with another's blood,
Sinful to take it as food and love.
I instead seek innocents not human,
Still aching for a bond with a human soul.
But still mine is dead.

Post a CommentAnother good one.
I always enjoy your poems. I still love the one you wrote about Oprah's dog.
Wonderfully said. Sorrowful.
I love to watch True Blood. You can become empathetic to vampires like that.
Cool poem!
Wow, that was great!
This is one of the best poems I've ever read! I am reposting this on twitter and on my face book and sending it to one of my friends, who would truly truly love this poem. Great work!
Well done here! And just in time for Halloween.
I never drink .... wine.
Vampire compassion. A rarity.
