Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park? DUMBO Park? Neither Name Suits This Beautiful Park!
Neighborhood: DUMBO
Brooklyn, NY 11201
United States of America
Yes, Down Underneath the Manhattan Bridge Overpass ( DUMBO ) accurately describes where this beautiful park is located. Technically, the park does extend underneath and to the east of the Manhattan Bridge. And yes, the 1860s era warehouses along Water Street are known as the Empire Stores. And of course, Robert Fulton built the first steamship right next door in the Brooklyn..., excuse me, The Unites States Navy Yard, New York.

But Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park is just plain too complicated a name for the park. Besides, those warehouses were known as the Empire Stores. Their glory as a business has long since vanished in history. And Robert Fulton as an historical figure already has his name all around the area: Old Fulton Street; Fulton Ferry Landing.

Neither name suits this beautiful park! What would you name it? I suggest naming the park "The Park Between the Bridges." What do you think?
