Employment Temp Agencies Maybe the Answer for You
Two Places Listed Below Do Not Currently Charge Any Other Fees Except for a Required Drug Test That is Needed Before Beginning Work
Both of these companies do require orientation before allowing a potential employee to begin work. The orientation consists of going over the company's handbook and safety rules. Along with the substance abuse policy and watching a safety video. From time to time an employee from these two work temporary agency do check ups to see how well your work performance is. This is because companies that employ temporary staffing employees need to be satisfy with the worker.
If at any time an accident occurs at work, a standard procedure of getting a drug test is needed. This is only to ensure substance abuse was not the cause of the accident or injury. You are required to take a drug test as soon as possible.
Peoplelink is an unemployment agency that helps look for work for temporary and temporary to permanent work granted the company continues giving work. To start out with Peoplelink, you need to first go in and fill out an application. There are certain times you can go in and apply so be sure to first call to check the application times available. In the application you'll need to go over your list of skills, past employment and personal information such as your name, address and social security. They ask you which shift such as first, second or third you'd prefer for work. At this time you are also required to fill out tax information such as your withholding/claiming items. You must provide two forms of ID such as a social security card, driver license, ID card, and or permanent resident card. This is because when you work through Peoplelink, they are your employers until you are hired into a company. Hiring in if it is an option where you work takes around 90 days give or take.
After going over your application, Peoplelink will call you for an interview. Now this doesn't necessarily mean an interview for a job but rather an interview to get a feel of what type of work you're looking for. When a job comes in that they feel will fit you, they call you with the details and need to know if you'd like the job. Once you have agreed to a job, they require you to come in and sign a release form that you understand and comply with the work contract that either party can terminate the work at any time regardless of what time duration it claims on your paper. This simply means if they aren't happy with your work, they can terminate you or if they are having a slow time and can't keep workers, you can be laid off. It's a good idea to always check in with them after you have been interviewed to see if there are any job openings. This way your kept in mind when job orders come in.
Sometimes a job requires safety items such as goggles, gloves or steel toe work boots. While currently they don't provide safety steel toe boots, they do provide ear plugs, safety goggles and gloves. If you need steel toe boots, Wal*Mart has some that are around $30.00 or less. Sometimes a job such as banquet serving requires you to wear a white tuxedo shirt, many Peoplelink offices will provide the shirt for your convenience.
Health insurance is also provided after you have worked a full 8 hour day. But you must sign up for it during the signing up periods to be eligibility. They offer vision, dental and health options for individuals and families. They also provide paid holidays granted that you have worked enough hours. This may vary from office to office so be sure to talk to a Peoplelink advisor regarding this issue.
When you work for Peoplelink, you must call in the office and of the place where you are working if for some reason you are going to be late and are unavailable to work. This is a rule and must be followed to avoid problems with your employers. You can't only call one place, both places are needed.
If for some reason you are laid off from your work or are fired, Peoplelink does require you to fill out a form regarding the leave from the place of work. If you do not like the place of work that you have accepted work at, Peoplelink requires you to give two business days notice that you are quitting. If you're a good worker, Peoplelink after quitting or getting laid off from a job will help you on finding another job. Keep in mind that it may take several weeks before you obtain a new job. If you have a good work performance, there is a chance you will be called back if you were laid off and there is enough available work.

Forge Industrial Staffing is another temporary employment agency that works around the same way Peoplelink does. But you must check in with them daily, sometimes more than a few times a day. And after you have completed your application and have been interviewed, you'll be available to jobs if they match your skills. You also have the options of being able to wait in one of their offices daily to see if a job order comes in that you can start the same day. Waiting is not for everyone due to family or other responsibilities. Don't expect a job right away due to waiting in the office. Some employees have sat 4 hours a day for many days before they even get sent off to a job. Some jobs are only a one day fill in while others can have a longer duration time.
Forge also offers health care insurance after you have worked for them and you are required to comply with the same rules such as calling in when you are unable to work for the day. They also provide safety items that are needed and do require you to sign a contract understanding your work duties. Forge Industrial Staffing has locations in MI, IN and IL.
