Encouraging Teenage Girls that the Abundant Life is in Christ Alone

2 Examples of Encouraging Letters

Jared Moore
When I was in youth ministry, I would write letters occasionally to those youth in my ministry. There were some who came only a few times to various events of church. I would still write them to encourage them, even if they were attending another church. We all need encouragement. Here are two examples of these letters:

[Girl's Name],

Howdy. How are things going with you? I'm doing pretty good. I just wanted to write you and let you know that I prayed for you today. I prayed that God would keep you from evil and that when temptation comes, He would give you the strength to overcome. As you grow up, please always know that everything apart from Christ is grasping for the wind. You can never catch the wind, such you can never catch happiness, by trying to capture it from this world. As you grow in Christ, may He bless you beyond your understanding. I love you and if you ever need anything, my door is always open. Be good.

[Girl's Name],

Hey girl. How are you doing today? I'm doing pretty good. God is always better to me than I deserve. I just wanted to write you again to let you know that I prayed for you today. I prayed that you would grow in a consistent relationship with Jesus, and that He would bring you to the church that you should be at. Can you think of anything in your life that is worth sinning against a Holy God? Can you think of anything in your life that can give you what God can? If you can answer yes to either of these, then please tell me what it is, for I have searched and searched and found nothing. Nothing is comparable to the glory that is God. Nothing can give you what God can. He is the only One worthy of our time and attention. I want to encourage you to give to God what He has allowed you to have, for the only reason you have life is because He has given it to you. As each day passes, may you submit more of your life to Him, thus bringing you to a church home and a consistent relationship with Him. I love you in Christ, and if you ever need anything, please contact me. Be good.

In Him,

[Leader's Name]
