End of Careers for Two Great Quarterbacks

The Professor
This year could see the end of many sports heroes. In football, baseball and basketball many heroes are being forced out In football we could see the end of two quaterbacks that have been dominant at many points in the last two decades. Kurt Warner has already announced his retirement and one has to wonder if Brett Favre will finally call it quits this year after brutally taking shot after shot against the Saints in the NFC Championship.

I believe it is a sad year that will see two great veteran QBs retire when they still seem to have something left in the tank. Unfortunately, they each have taken the hits this year. Warner has had too many concussions for him to continue on and Favre I think is tired of laying the dirt after he gets layed out. Warner has led the Arizona Cardinals to the playoffs the last two years and even to the Super Bowl last year. Favre meanwhile has shocked us all this year. For all the writers that doubted his comeback he put them to shame. Just toss out that last game for him because he clearly was playing hurt when he threw that final interception which ended up costing the team.

So to sum up the careers of the men would take to long so I will just give some quick stats.

Warner:
Was voted to the Pro Bowl 4 times
Led the league in Passer Rating two times
Won the Super Bowl in 2001 with the St. Louis Rams
Was voted MVP twice

Favre:
Was voted to the Pro Bowl 11 times
Has the most passes yards and touchdowns thrown in a career
Won the Super Bowl in 2001 with the St. Louis Rams
Was voted MVP three times

So I wish these men the best of luck. I think that each would have a very successful season if they end up deciding to comeback. Personally, I'm hoping that Favre will decide to comeback and that Leinart gets injured so that it opens up the door for Warner. I'm sentamentalist.
