Pittsburgh Is Home to the World's Best Roller Coasters

Roller coaster fans around the world know that Kennywood Park located just minutes from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania is the place to head for some of the world's top rated roller coasters and August is a great time to head to Kennywood Park. Fans of wooden roller coasters should note that Kennywood Park has three great wooden roller coasters the Jack Rabbit, the Racers and the number one rated Thunderbolt. Kennywood Park also has a new roller coaster this year, the high speed, Sky Rocket. The Sky Rocket opened to the public late in June 2010 and roller coaster fans have been heralding it as a thrilling new coaster.

Visit the Pittsburgh Zoo's Newest Editions

While August days in Pittsburgh can be a little hot for the zoo, the Pittsburgh Zoo has five furry new reasons why you should brave the heat and come for a visit. The five reasons are the new African Painted Dog puppies. These puppies are the surviving members of a litter of nine. The mother sadly died shortly after the puppies' birth, but a Labrador mix from one of Pittsburgh's animal shelters successfully nursed the puppies. African Painted puppies have a very high mortality rate both in the wild and in captivity and these five new editions at the Pittsburgh Zoo are a true success story. The Pittsburgh Zoo also has a wonderful aquarium and a new tiger shark and polar bear exhibit. The Pittsburgh Zoo is a real treasure and the perfect place to visit on a summer day.
