End Violence Against All Women: A Call to Men

Chad R. Herman
Violence has erupted and stayed in our country as well as all others in the world. There are millions, maybe even billions, that have seen this as an atrocious problem. One of the greatest acts of viollence in our society is Violence Against Women. This one piece of the violence spectrum makes up over 80% of all violence in the world. There are many that point fingers as to what the problem is, but few offer sollutions. Those finger pointers will point to the media, the past, the parrents, and any number of causes. However, 98% of the violence against women is caused by men. So it's a call to men to stop this.

A group called A Call To Men developed and created by Violnece against women activist Tony Porter and Ted bunch is proposing a solution for these atrocious numbers. If men are the cause of all of this violence against women, then it's up to men to stop it. The A Call To Men group believe that it is a moral imperitive for every man to step up and say that this violence is not ok. The plain truth is that most of the men out there are good well meaning men who would never do anything to harm a woman. But, by not doing anything about the actions of the other men we allow the violence to continue.

Therefore the A Call To Men association asks all men to stand up and take a stand against all things that propegate the objectification and violence toward women. Every woman/man bashing joke, every time a boy is called a girl/sissy/wous/pussy, every time a woman is made to be seen as an object rather than a living breathing human being, the problem continues. A call to Men point out that "The cycle that will allow the violence toward the half of the population that gives life to the entire human race will continue each time these seemingly small things are ignored." It's time for all men to say that violence and violence against women especially is unacceptable.

Very important topic. We are all responsible for our own actions. And we can choose to think and a take a non-violent action in many cases. God bless.

Great article I'm glad to hear that there is a group out there dedicated to sstopping violence against women. Though I wonder if this group alone inspired you to write this or if the conflicts in Africa, predominately Congo-in which groups are using rape as a weapon of war had something to do with this as well.

Great article with words of wisdom. The hubby and I were just talking about tonight how many husbands or boyfriends have shot their wives in just the last couple of weeks in Memphis. It's unreal that people can be so mean to each other.
