We are already Late
Protection of species has become an immediate need of the day, as many species are facing extinction everyday. The colorful butterflies that fill us with ecstatic pleasure and the humming bees that caused pollination and vegetation are facing dangers of extinction. Many species of the bees are being reduced in number. Many of their colonies are being wiped out due to the modern living conditions. We have failed to realize this alarming destruction which is an immediate death toll to the whole humanity.
Why Our Food Grain Yield is going down?
Insects, especially bees, are the main agents of pollination. It is through the pollination process that germination of plants is fuelled. It is through this that plants are able to germinate, multiply, grow, and flourish. Honeybees are the main species of insects responsible for the vast majority of all pollination. Experts have estimated that one third of the world's food supply relies directly on the special capacity of the honeybees for pollination. The extinction of these bees will naturally cause reduction in the yield of food products.
In addition to pollinating, honeybees produce honey, the most nutritious and immunized food. The honeybees are the only insects that produce foods ready for human consumption. The sweet honey is the elixir of human life.
Why these Insects are disappearing?
Insects, especially bees, are disappearing from the globe as a result of many of the modern living conditions. Deforestation and urbanization have caused disappearance of many species. Pollution in the atmosphere, increasing noises, intervention of modern equipments and electronic devices has been threatening the insect world. The magnetite in the body of the insects that helps navigation is sensitive to modern electronic smog that cell phones emit. Use of pesticides and chemicals are causing irrevocable damage to the insect world.
Determine to Save these Insects
Environment of our planet has to be protected in all possible ways. It is quite evident that if this trend of extinction continues, it will definitely spell the doom for agriculture and the annihilation of the whole humanity. We are already late to pay heed to the words of the great scientist Albert Einstein who said, "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, and no more man."

Post a CommentWe really need to take steps before it's too late; it is late enough already.
It seems like such a terrible irony that "World Environment Day" is happening on a day when thousands of gallons of oil are still spilling into the precious waters of this planet. It's just heartbreaking.
