Endless Ocean: Blue World - a Nintendo Wii Video Game Review

Having bought a Nintendo Wii for our grandkids for Christmas, we knew that when our grandson's birthday came up the end of February, he was going to want a new game for the Wii; and he did. At least we knew what games he already had.

My husband and I went online to research the choice of games that Nintendo had. To our surprise there were over 950 to choose from. One criteria that my husband and I have when we get games for our grandchildren's gaming systems is, we want the game to be something that they can learn from. After researching the games we decided on Endless Ocean: Blue World. At the time it was Nintendo's newest game release for the Wii, and it could also be played with a wi-fi connection for another player to play along. It ended up being one of the best game selections that we have ever made.

Endless Ocean: Blue World offers over 300 different species of ocean life. The graphics are beautiful, and the music is wonderfully soothing and relaxing. The player can feed the different fish, as well as reward them with pets. Not limited to taking care of ocean life, the player can search for sunken treasure and salvage what he wants to keep, he/she can teach a dolphin how to do tricks, join explorers in search of lost civilizations, or customize their own adventures.

It is stated that Endless Ocean is for people 10 and over, but our two year old granddaughter loves to sit and watch the fishes. Sometimes when the boys are feeling particularly nice they have given her one of the controls, and have showed her how to give the fishes love. Our whole family loves this game.

If Endless Ocean had a down side, it would probably be that it wasn't challenging, but I don't think that it's supposed to be. Besides, a little soothing relaxation never hurt anybody.

Endless Ocean: Blue World can be bought at K-Mart, Target and Toys R Us for $29.99, and Walmart online for $29.96. If you want to go online with wi-fi and swim with a friend, you might enjoy having the speak feature. It enables the swimmers to communicate with each other. It makes it a lot more fun.

I don't consider Endless Ocean: Blue World to be a video game as much as I do a video adventure.
