Enduring Tough Times

Leslie Boe
We all have had difficult times in our lives. Whether it is our teenage years, emerging as an adult in the work world, beginning married life, starting and raising a family, dealing with family relationships, the inevitable work stress, financial trials, and the list goes on. Have you ever wondered why you were given tough times? Could it be that you are to grow and develop a certain aspect of your personality?

Many people who have been through difficult times turn to God. And it's no wonder. There are many words of wisdom in the Bible. The one verse that helps with trials/temptation is 1 Corinthians 10:13.

"No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it."

New Inductive Bible

This verse allows you to know that the problem you are facing, whether it is big or small, is something that others are also faced with; even though it may feel as though you are all alone.

While you are going through this time of temptation, this verse lets us know that God stays by our side. That is the best news we could possibly get. That thought alone could help you to remain positive during this difficult time. You may feel like you are the only one with the particular dilemma you are facing so you talk with no one about it. However, God is with you during this time. He knows and understands what you are going through. He has given us this temptation and he will give us a way out of this situation with the strength needed.

Of course, the "way of escape" may come to you in one day or 25 years time. This is something that is to be determined by God, we have to learn patience. This is a virtue God has bestowed upon us.

Before you realize what has happened, the temptation will have come to an end and you will have endured, with God's help.

I too love this. God never gives up on us, so why should we give up on Him, even if its (as you said) 25 years later. That's proof that He never leaves us nor forsakes us. Well done! :-)

I love those thoughts--keep up with it.
