Energizer NiMH Battery Charger: Pros and Cons

Aaron Conor
There are many different ways in which one can choose to recycle these days. Battery chargers are one such way, and they can save you money in the long run. In this article, I will review the Energizer NiMH battery charger.

The Good:

Basically, the main reason to buy this battery charger is because it's so cheap. You can find this battery charger online or at stores like Walmart for around twenty dollars. It also usually comes with four rechargeable batteries, which seems like a great deal. A fully charged battery will last a month or two; it just depends on how often it is used.

Another nice feature of this battery charger is the fact that it is so small and light. It's about 2.5" long, 2.5" wide, and 1" thick. And the battery charger only weighs a few ounces; even a four year old could hold this battery charger without a problem.

When you are going to charge the batteries, you will have to open up the battery case. There is a sliding feature to this battery charger that you will pull down, and then you will place the batteries inside of that.

The plug that goes into the outlet is also nice because it folds back into the battery charger. This prevents the plug from being damaged should it be bashed up against something.

The Bad:

First of all, the Energizer battery charger is fairly flimsy. The charger is made of a cheap plastic that will easily break if you should drop it. Or step on it. Also, you can't charge one battery at a time.

This can be quite annoying for some people who just require one charged battery. If all of your batteries but one are in use then you would have to take one of those batteries, and charge it with the battery that does need charging.

Another problem that I have discovered is that the batteries do not fit into everything. For example, I wanted to use these rechargeable batteries for my electronic toothbrush. Unfortunately, the batteries will not fit inside the toothbrush. It's just two batteries. I can fit a non-rechargeable battery and a chargeable battery into the toothbrush, but that's it. I guess it's better than nothing.

As you can see, the Energizer NiMH battery charger has its problems. In fact, the problems outweigh the good points of this battery charger. So if you're looking for a battery charger, you may want to avoid buying this one. Sure it's cheap, but it's also a piece of junk.
