Energy Efficiency, Home Energy Savings Are Possible!

An Energy Saving Plan and Energy Conservation is at the Top of Everyone's Priority List These Days or Should Be

Thomas H Forthe
Your home's energy efficiency can save or cost you quite a chunk of change these days and here are a few things to look for as ways to improve your energy conservation.

Light bulbs, the old incandescent bulbs are not known for their energy efficiency, but florescent bulbs are. Changing your bulbs can save money and turn your energy conservation effort green as your home energy consumption lowers.

If you still have the old wooden frame single pane windows, consider covering them with plastic as a way to boost your energy savings! Just adding a single layer of plastic will lower home energy saving considerably.

Raised porches or home foundations are also a budget drain when it comes to energy conservation. Cold air gets under the house and robs heat and it is very hard to heat it up again which over works your furnace and your homes energy efficiency. These areas need skirted and insulated to improve your homes energy conservation.

Install energy saving appliances when ever you replace an old one, the energy saving is rated on the outside of each appliance so it is easy to find.

Lowering your home energy bills and improving the energy saving ability of major heating appliances is also possible. Look for furnaces with high energy efficiency ratings, 90% or higher will lower the bills significantly as well.

Insulation is also part of energy conservation, be sure your walls and attic are sufficient for adequate energy saving. A reputable contractor can aid with the "itchy" stuff and raise your homes energy efficiency.

Installing solar panels to take some of the energy load off of your utility company will add up in your home energy savings over time and since it is a renewable energy source, it is very much a green part of energy conservation.

Lowering your thermostat a few degrees and wearing a sweater is another possible area to improve home energy savings and raise energy efficiency.

Geothermal heating and cooling is another method of energy conservation that can be checked into for energy saving, and the savings can also add up in your home energy budget.

Most local utility companies will do a home energy audit, and can tell you exactly where your biggest energy conservation will occur and a reasonable way to deal with it.

Energy efficiency is possible for the average home, work your way through all the home energy losses you have and work on energy conservation. Your budget will love you for it as the energy saving add up!

These are excellent tips. I never thought about a raised porch and what it's doing with regard to energy consumption.

I need to be slapped with the Big Green Stick! I live in an apartment building where all my utilities are included in the rent. Back in the day when my cat was alive, during the really hot summer days, I used to keep the air conditioning on for her. I SUCK at being an environmentally responsible person!
