Energy Star Rebate for North Carolina Residents

Government tax rebates for energy star products are available in North Carolina. These rebates vary from $75.00 to $300.00 for air conditions to freezers. To find Energy Star products you can go to the government website Energy Star. Once on the page, click on the product, and on the right hand side there a list to find a model or click on the link.

Once an Energy Star product is purchased an application needs to be filled out. Click on the link below for the type of appliance bought. A Visa pre-paid card will be sent, there are no checks sent. In North Carolina the NC Applicance Rebate website lists the eligible appliance as:

Dishwashers $75.00

The goal of the rebate is to stimulate the economy while also promoting conservation of energy. There were two phases with phase one funds at $8.8 million and phase two NC was given about $1 million, in order to help citizens who bought the Energy Star products. Currently in phase 2, which is a first come, first served, rebate, all products must have been bought June 1, 2010 and after. In North Carolina the Energy Star rebates are already reserved but people can still get on the waiting list.

Only North Carolina residents with a valid residential address can apply, no PO Boxes will be accepted. Purchases of the appliance must be made at a North Carolina retailer. More than than one appliance may be purchased, but they must be different items; such as, dishwasher and freeze, but the applications must be sent in separate envelopes (if applying by mail). Purchases of two freezers, only one freeze qualifies for the rebate, also the agreement is that the appliance will replace another appliance.

If a contractor has purchased and installed in the product make sure that the receipt displays the purchase price separately from installation cost and tax. It must also indicate that the appliance was purchased from a North Carolina contractor or distributor on or after June 1, 2010, and contain the appliance's manufacturer and model number and indicate that it is Energy Star qualified.
