Engagement Photographs - Outdoor Location Ideas

Jody Morse
For some couples, engagement photos are just as important as wedding photos. They make for great "save the date" cards for friends or family and may also be used to announce your engagement in the newspaper or even on Facebook. If you are looking for a great outdoor location for your engagement photos, you may want to take these ideas into consideration.

Garden Engagement Photographs

One of the most beautiful outdoor places to shoot engagement photographs is in a garden. The flowers which bloom during spring and summer can make for a beautiful backdrop for your photos. Locations with trees that have beautiful flowers, such as cherry trees, can also make for beautiful engagement pictures.

Park or Forest Engagement Photo Ideas

You will be sure to find great opportunities for engagement photographs at a park or forest. The photographer can shoot you walking down a path with your fiancé, laying together in a grassy area, or sitting together on a park bench. Also don't underestimate the potential of children's parks, as the swings can make for very cute engagement pictures.

Waterfront Engagement Pictures

Lakes, rivers, streams, and oceans can all make for beautiful engagement picture opportunities. If there is a rocky area, consider laying on it together as a couple. Writing words in the sand can make for very romantic photographs. Also keep in mind that waterfalls can make for absolutely beautiful engagement photo backdrops.

Lighthouse Engagement Photographs

If you live in an area where there are local lighthouses, this can be a breathtaking place to shoot your engagement photos. Take photographs in beautiful spots on the rocks or sand to ensure that you capture both the lighthouse and the ocean in the background.

Open Field Engagement Photo Ideas

A beautiful place to take your engagement photos are in an open field with high grass or even in a cornfield. This can provide a nice backdrop and also ensures that you and your fiancé are the primary focus of the pictures.

Bridge Engagement Photographs

Bridges can be beautiful outdoor locations for engagement pictures. Whether you find a bridge that is overlooking a river or a small bridge overlooking a stream, it can be an ideal location for your pictures.

It is ideal to consider having at least two different locations in mind when shooting your engagement photographs. This will help ensure that you get a range of shots that you love. Also keep in mind that it's important to consider the season. A forest may look especially beautiful during autumn because of the fall foliage, while a garden may be more ideal for springtime.
