Well it is the last 16 and again the England team, are to meet Germany in the final stages of the competition, which has seen England actually beat the Germans way back in 1966. *Laugh Out Loud* that is such a long time ago now that it seems to pale in significance to the modern game of football, or soccer America.
England versus Germany is probably one of the greatest rivalries in the beautiful game, but one has to wonder if the fixture is some kind of footballing scam!
England just never seem to beat the Germans in the World Cup competition, so what makes anybody think anything will be any different this time round?
Well some are saying that this England team are the best team to have graced the world cup for many years... we will see, I'm not totally convinced going of present form and the team selections as of late. My personal preference against Germany would be to see Jermaine Defoe and Peter Crouch up front, with Wayne Rooney dropping in center to them with Steven Gerrard feeding in on the left and Aaron Lennon on the right. This I feel would give the Germans all kinds of problems... it depends on how the referee feels during the match I suppose, as the referee has always seemed to scam England of some very valid decisions.
This game or fixture has also seen the great Penalty Shoot-Out Scam played out in front of many nervous eyes, Chris Waddle, Gareth Southgate and Stuart Pierce all missing penalties to end the English World cup campaign in the past. It is a fact that Germany have only ever missed a penalty once every28 years in the competition. So if you are going to place a bet on penalties... unfortunately the England team is probably not the safest value for your money.
England finished second to the Team USA in the group stage, sending the team in this epic clash against Germany. The Germans you could argue are not the best ever German team, and England have a very good chance of coming good against them... let's not forget the German footballing team can scam and be tactical, they always seem to be much better in the final rounds of any competition... we shall see how England fair very shortly... 12 minutes away for your writer...
