Upon arriving to English's Family Restaurant, the outside looked like any local restaurant would. But entering this family restaurant was a whole different story.
Chipped paint, ragged un-vacuumed carpeting, and a small interior welcomed us in. No greater or no welcoming waitress. The buffet was located at the entrance and seemed to rely mainly on heat lamps to keep the food warm. The breakfast buffet was small and contained the breakfast basics. Piles of scrambled eggs, home fries, sausage, bacon, biscuits, and a few other breakfast staples sat drying out in a buffet area that looked like it had not been wiped down or check on in the last hour or two.
Still attempting to try, we proceeded to the 'wait here to be seated' sign. Without a 'hello' or 'how many' we were promptly seated. The waitress had a very thick accent and I was not sure what she had said, so I politely asked her to repeat herself. The waitress behind her abruptly with an aggravated tone said 'She asked you what you wanted to drink."
We noted the rudeness and tried the food. Everything we had tried from the bacon to the eggs were either dried out, heavily saturated with grease, and void of all flavor. Our waitress did not ask how everything was or even if we wanted a refill on our drinks.
Our plates still full and our stomachs queasy, we went to pay our bill. The cashier didn't smile or even ask how everything was. We paid the bill, left no tip, and quickly left the establishment.
English's Family Restaurant successfully put us hotel-bound for most of the afternoon. Our stomachs were very upset and we missed out on a day of beach fun in the sun.
Hands down, English's Family Restaurant was the most unpleasant dining experience we have ever had thus far at our annual summer vacation to Ocean City, Maryland.

Post a CommentNo, the worst food in Ocean City is Paul Revere's. It looks horrible and tastes like dogfood. Don't waste your time.
I apologize that this was written in January when I had visted Ocean City in the summer... things like work, business trips, and caring for you dying grandmother do tend to get in the way of writing articles and having free time.
WE think that English's has the best food ever for the money. Not sure why you had a problem with the restaurant. Did you really go cause you wrote this in January and they are closed then. Maybe you are confused.
