Wanting to enjoy the magic of Baja without the Los Cabos prices? Then perhaps you should head for Baja's capital La Paz. In La Paz you will discover that hotels are cheaper beaches are more welcoming and the living is easier. The city is charming and its lively streets are lined with coffee and ice cream shops.

Just take a stroll along the boardwalk to discover the endless possibilities that are on offer. The beach is clean and the ocean enticing. Stop at one of the many seaside restaurants for fresh Mexican food and what's more the prices are extremely reasonable.

Wander along the waterfront and take a look at the pretty sculptures and palatals which line it and then stroll across the road to the souvenir stores, coffee shops and ice-cream stands.

The surroundings at La Paz have a unique enchantment with giant Cardon cacti and dry sloping hills which make their way along the horizon.

If you want a sportier vacation then La Paz is the place to kick-start an adventure getaway. Travelers can take a 1-day excursion to Isla Espiritu Santo to snorkel with sea-lions, Kayak on the Sea of Cortez or take a tour along the coast during whale watching season and much more.

Getting to La Paz is easier now than it has ever been with Delta Airlines and Alaska Airlines flying several time a week from LAX to Paz.

La Paz is totally affordable. Take the Hotel Los Arcos for instance. This hotel is right on the boardwalk, faces the beach and the rates can start as low as $102 per night.

There are many new developments that will cater for long- term and short-term visitors and many of the real estate communities come with their own hotels. An example of this is the 550 acre CostaBaja Resort and Marina.

The CostaBaja Resort and Marina is an eco-friendly development that is going to feature a Gary Player Design golf course with 18 holes, a waterfront village and spa.

One of the largest charmers of La Paz is El Angel Azul. This is a wonderful bed and breakfast whose original buildings were once the city's courthouse. El Angel Azul has now been designated as a historic monument by Mexico's national Institution of Anthropology and History. The courtyard at the El Angel Azul has been turned into a botanical garden featuring local fauna. You can stay at this quaint B&B from $100 per night.
