Having an outdoor wall fountain in your backyard is a great addition to any home. The atmosphere around your home will change dramatically with an outdoor wall fountain. It will add a calmer more inviting environment. Here are some great ideas to running your outdoor wall fountain with as little work as possible.

One thing for you to do is keep your outdoor wall fountain clean. Your outdoor wall fountain will run at top performance if it is kept clean. When your fountain begins to get loud and leaves water spots around the basin of it, your fountain is in need of cleaning. There are many different ways to keep your fountain clean without added a lot of work to your agenda.

One way to do this is to use distilled water rather than tap water. Tap water may cause deposits of mineral to build up on the fountains backdrop and around the basin. This will cause white stains that are not easy to remove unless you use a commercial cleaner. Distilled water is cleaned of minerals and will not cause any build up in your outdoor wall fountain

Another way to do this is to install a UV light and have it shine on the basin of the outdoor wall fountain. Wherever there is water, there are bacteria that can build up. You may notice a film forming on the top of the water or that your outdoor wall fountain looks and feels oily. This is due to algae and bacteria building on the fountain. The UV light will kill all of the bacteria and stop the bacteria and algae from growing.

Using distilled water and a UV light will allow you to not have to clean the outdoor wall fountain very often. However, you will still need to drain the water and clean the surface of the fountain really well by wiping it down. If you do this on a regular basis, it won't take you long to clean your outdoor wall fountain.

One problem that many people encounter with their outdoor wall fountain is that it is not installed properly. The outdoor wall fountain may not be completely level. This will cause the pump to encounter problems as well as how the water runs into the basin. When you install your outdoor water fountain, ensure that it is completely level. This will save you a lot of trouble in the future.

Be sure to keep the basin of your outdoor wall fountain full. Your fountain should sound like the trickle of a stream. Your fountain will sound like a babbling brook if you do not keep the water basin at the proper level. You can water your outdoor wall fountain at the same time you water your plants if you have them. Watering your outdoor wall fountain does not require much time and will help keep your wall fountain in proper working order. Remember that if your water fountain gets loud and becomes a distraction rather than an attraction, it probably needs watered.

To help your outdoor wall fountain last longer, it is a good idea to keep your water pump running. This will also save you the trouble of turning your fountain on and off. Your pump will run at its best if it is constantly running. By turning the motor off and on, you will wear your motor out.

By following these easy steps, you will enjoy the lasting effects of your outdoor wall fountain and save yourself a lot of time and energy. Remember to keep your basin full of water, your pump running and your fountain clean and you should be able to relax and enjoy the beautiful sounds of your outdoor wall fountain.
